Mike Terpeza
UI Designer

I design interfaces that are clear, accessible, and built to actually ship — with a focus on healthcare UX, design systems, and the handoff between design and code.

Designing with intention

Fifteen years in print production taught me that visual clarity isn't decorative — it's functional. When a press plate is wrong, it costs thousands and there's no undo after the run. That precision follows me into every interface: deliberate hierarchy, purposeful spacing, and component thinking that accounts for edge cases and states before a spec is ever handed off.

Healthcare UI is where I'm most at home — spaces where accessibility isn't a checkbox, it's the whole job. WCAG 2.2, high-density information architecture, cognitive load under pressure. Design decisions that hold up when a clinician is triaging at 2am. I find those constraints clarifying.

Eight years on the engineering side means both sides of the designer–developer handoff are familiar territory — not just claimed. Cleaner specs, fewer revision cycles, and designs that actually survive contact with engineering. Because I've been the engineer on the receiving end of specs that didn't.

Outside of product work, I'm a painter and mixed-media artist. See that side of things (opens in new tab)
